Mr. Dropout

Following on the heels of Death Bear (RIP), Mr. Dropout was an unexpected continuation on detachment. While Death Bear aided people in their detachment from objects, Mr. Dropout embodied the detachment itself.

For three months, from July-October, 2010, Mr. Dropout walked all over Manhattan and Brooklyn in a total of 26 walks.

I decided to detach from my past work and erase all former identities. I embarked on a new identity search. The performance on the street was repeated, but did not change. It was a facade. Most importantly, the transformation was discussed, new future identities were suggested, and walk locations were announced in real time on Twitter.
